Challenger Charlie Registration Fee Assistance - CCRFA

HCBA strives to remove all barriers to participation in our programs.  When payment of registration fees is a barrier to participation, the CCRFA process aims to provide practical assistance to players and their families.

External funding assistance is available, approved applicants can receive at least 50% funding for Registration Fees.  CCRFA may be available for up to 50% of the Fee and/or monthly payments of at least $25 are accepted.

Funding Options
Youth 18 and Under
Please consider these options prior to inquiring with HCBA about CCRFA
- City of Hamilton Recreation Assistance Program (up to age 18).  If approved will pay 50% of the Registration Fee https://www.hamilton.ca/parks-recreation/registered-rec-programs/recreation-assistance-program
- Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program (up to age 18).  If approved will pay up to 100% of the Registration Fee
- Special Services at Home: players (up to age 18) can submit a receipt and be reimbursed through the SSAH program. http://www.children.gov.on.ca/htdocs/English/specialneeds/specialservices.aspx

Youth applicants that are approved for any of these grants are eligible for CCRFA which will provide up to 50% of the unfunded balance of the registration fee for any program (e.g. Hamilton RAP 50% - CCRFA 50%).

Adults over 18
Adult players with a developmental challenge can apply to Passport Funding Program to pay the registration fee

- If not approved or participant is not eligible, adult players can apply directly to CCRFA for assistance with 50% of their registration fee.  As we have no eligibility approval from an external funder, immediate family income and family size will need to be provided, Canadian Tire Jumpstart criteria will be used to determine eligibility.  All information is kept confidential.
- Players also have the option of paying all or outstanding registration fees with monthly payments of at least $25, with the final payment no later than the last scheduled program date.

On an exception basis, the committee may grant assistance for special circumstances

- Player, Parent, Support Worker or Program Administrative Staff responsible for Finances must complete an
- All applications will be reviewed by the CCRFA committee.  Upon approval, a summary of applications will be sent to the Board of Directors for final approval.  All applications and players’ names are kept confidential.
- Decisions will be communicated to applicants by a Challenger Charlie committee member.
