Baseball

Playing team sports, organized, or not, is a normal, healthy part of growing up in Canada. Many children and youth dream of scoring the winning goal, hitting a homerun or crossing the goal line for a touchdown. Competition, challenge and team experiences are beneficial for everyone

Challenger Baseball is a program for players with special needs. Participation in our programs provides players the opportunity to develop and improve endurance, coordination, skills and confidence at recreational or competitive levels of involvement. Teamwork and fair play are encouraged, lasting friendships are developed and the level of fun and enjoyment of life is enhanced. The cost for 3 months of Baseball is $120.

WHO CAN PLAY?

Membership in the HCBA is open and available to any person ages 5 years and up with special needs. Games are played at junior and senior levels and are structured to prioritize fun and sportsmanship.

Off Season Programs

The Fall & Winter programs each run for 10 weeks, the cost is $100 for each session. The Fall Program runs from October to the middle of December and the Winter Program from the middle of January to the end of March. The activities run Tuesdays from 6:15 to 8:15PM at Westmount Rec Center.

Each week there are two - one hour segments, players can choose a sport for each hour. Available sports are:

- Boccia Skills and Fun - Improve your skills and learn the rules while having fun with friends

- Recreational Boccia - Fun Boccia with friends, scores are not kept

- Floor Curling - Brand new for HCBA

- Gymnasium Bowling - recreational skill level

- Adapted Basketball - some skills training combined with a 1/2 hour game each week

- Indoor Baseball - non competitive

A huge benefit of this program is fun and social interaction. Many friendships that are established and maintained during summer baseball are carried on through the Fall & Winter programs.
